Sacchetto, Veneto, Italy
A vineyard that is based that is based in the hills that look down towards Venice and the Adriatic Sea, the region has an international reputation for producing some of the finest wines in Northern Italy and this family vineyard founded by the late Sisto Sanchetto is no different.
Pinot Grigio IGTWhite. As fine, delicate and light a wine as you would expect from a vineyard so close to Venice. This Pinot differs from others as it has a spicy finish making it ideal with both seafood and chicken. Can be drunk now or laid down.£6.51
Cabernet Sauvignon D.O.CAn intense and complex red with hints of licorice and spice on the palate. The wine is full bodied and has a rich finish and is best enjoyed with equally robust meats such as game or beef. Can be laid down for up to 6 years.£8.25
Az. Agr. Lombardo, Montepulciano, Italy
Situated in the picturesque hills overlooking Montepulciano, the Lombardo family run a vineyard which has two distinct soil compositions, resulting in a full bouquet wine which is non tannic and has an elegant finish.
Chiant Colli Senesi D.O.C.G.Bright red and ruby in colour, this Tuscan treat has the typical smooth finish and red cherry and spicy bouquet one would expect from a wine from this region, but we would recommend you decant it and serve at room temperature to taste it at its best.£12.99
Vino Nobili Di Montepulciano D.O.C.G. 2004A full bodied red that is both tannic and dry to the finish, this wine works especially well with red meat and roasts. Another wonder when decanted.£14.99
Az. Agr. Fattoria di Petroio, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
Originally part of a large agricultural community that included the estates of Chieci and Passeggeri, the fattoria was assigned to Luigi Pallini whose direct grand-son is the present owner Gian Luigi Lenzi, making it a true family affair.
Chianti Classico Riserva D.O.C.G. 2004A full bodied red with a floral aroma, that gives way to forest fruits on the palate and fine tannins on the finish. Trust us, it is really as special as it sounds and is perfect for both drinking now and laying down.£21.99
